I liked the idea of this book, that there is a place were lost family can keep an eye on you, however I am not convinced the book quite worked. It seemed to jump about all over the place which at times made it hard to follow, also I felt the end just drifted off to nothing, and I was not keen on the Susie and Ray situation towards the end. Another well-reviewed fiction book it's taken me some time to get around to, I found _The Lovely Bones_ left me with more questions than answers - in a positive sense. Not merely a question of "What happens when we die", this book examines afterlife for a dead teenager... and after death for her friends, family, community, and killer. I know this book is a must read on so many people's lists, but the first chapter affected me so intensely, that I could not continue with this book. While I am sensitive to sexual violence issues, I can usually approach them in fiction with a bit of distance. Perhaps it is a testament to this author that their words were so powerful as to affect me so deeply. Maybe someday I will get past the first chapter, because my guess is the rest of the book is as powerful.

I know this was a best seller and everyone else thinks it's great. I couldn't relate to any of the characters, I thought the plot was boring and the people needed to be slapped into reality. Sorry all of those that love it, I definitely didn't.
