This book (written by an upper-middle-class white man writing from the POV of a working-class young woman) fails on several different counts.

I enjoyed this one very much. Set in the 1930's New York, two good friends, Eve and Katey, are out on New Year's Eve when they meet Tinker who is a handsome banker. The ladies both seem to have an eye for him, so a little jealousy sets in when he gives a little more attention to one.
