This was a 4.5 star book. Really enjoyable and the fact that Ruby and I were both born in the same year made lots of her observations seem very real to me since I was seeing the same things at the same maturity level. The only thing that I sometimes did not get were some of the British idioms and slang.

I enjoyed this book, the way it was written felt very real, families do have issues and the family in this story suffered most problems. My only issue was the size of the family, it too a while for who was who to sink in, it could have done with a family tree in the front of the book to help refer to. I found the story told from Ruby's point of view easier to follow, maybe as it was told from beginning to end, whereas the footnotes skipped backward and forward in time.

Behind the Scenes at a Museum is a great dark comedy about Ruby Lennox and her family, and with some great movies & music references.
It was the most challenging book I’ve read in English, but I really like it :)
