Its only in the last few years that I have stated to read the classics, some I have enjoyed and some I have been awful. I would not say that I enjoyed this, there seemed to be some gaping holes, and even on going back a few pages and re reading did not seem to throw any light on to it. I struggle to understand what Joseph was saying, so its a good job he did not have a big part with lists of dialogue in it. This was a book club read, and I have to admit that I wasn't ecstatic about reading this one, but figured it was on my "to read" list anyway, so I oughtn't complain. Many people read this book during their highschool years and while part of me wishes that I had found this book sooner, another part of me is glad that i didn't, as I think the flowery language and narrative technique probably would have tried my patience at a younger age and I would have missed the morbidly fantastic story held wit

Hated this book; I had to make myself finish it. I find it hard to like a fiction book when I don't like any of the characters.

I absolutely loved this book in all of its narcissistic glory. All of these characters deserved each other. Not one was not overly dramatic, self absorbed and cruel.
