Incredibly funny but increasingly pessimistic and dreary as the books go on. Worth the read merely for Adams's unique voice and descriptions but with a lot more on top of that to recommend it. You'd feel very unsatisfied after just reading Hitchhiker, but you could probably stop after Restaurant or Life, the Universe, Everything and be happy with that. ...more

Funny, droll book that makes you ponder existential philosophy, but luckily does it in space with a guy in a bathrobe and a towel. Stick out your thumb and enjoy the ride.
