I enjoyed this book, although I thought the ending was a bit lacking. The book is written as a series of correspondences, interviews, emails and other written dialogue instead of a traditional narrative. The main character and her daughter were both quite likable and I was equally annoyed by the "gnats" in their town. This is an excellent light novel. Bernadette is an eccentric genius architect attempting to make a life as a stay at home Mom is wealthy Seattle. She doesn't seem to be able to fit in. So after a disastrous 'intervention' she finds an irresistible opportunity and leaves her husband and daughter.
Where'd You Go Bernadette is a daughter's search for her wonderful genius Mother. The story is fast paced and funny. I think novels deserves it's long held slot on the Best Seller lists. ...more

Reminded me of Gone Girl in that your spouse can always surprise you, but in this case, the story is funny, muuuuuch lighter, and I actually liked some of the characters. I also liked that Bernadette has more depth beyond being Wife or Mother, and a human selfishness that doesn't make her a horrible person or unlikable character.
