Very quick read. Started it on audio and was listening on my commute, but a third of the way through, I needed to find out what happened, so I checked out the eBook and sped through it in a couple hours. Can definitely see why it won an Alex Award (since it could appeal to teens and adults easily), and why book clubs love it. My only major complaint is that the ending was a bit abrupt.

Super fun and clever. The story is told from the perspective of a daughter whose eccentric mother has disappeared. Most of the early chapters are composed of documents and e-mails the daughter has acquired in order to construct a narrative of who her mom was and why she ran off. Great book! Funny but pointed critique of familial dysfunction, self-aware hipster culture, and the kinds of companies that inspire cultish loyalties (it's Microsoft here but Apple springs to mind). The narrator is Bee, who attends a hippie Seattle prep middle school and is excited for a family trip when her eccentric and occasionally troubled artist mother disappears. I enjoyed the portion of the book told through letters, reports and emails, but the journey in the final section was the highlig

Hilarious and heartwarming story. I highly recommend the audiobook. I can't wait for the movie!
