One minor plot quibble aside, this was a really satisfying middle book to this trilogy. Nicely built off the first one, good twists (that were not so shocking as to make me think they were unfounded), and great setup for the third, which I already understand has folks really split on the course it takes. I remain intrigued enough that this series might be read right after the new year.

You know, for a book that's "just another YA fad," Roth's world makes me think deeply about our own. What are the causes of human suffering in the world? Each faction's hypothesis seems plausible.

This book was about as poorly written and far-fetched as the first one, but they both kept my interest, so I guess that's something.
