Definite chemistry between Ann and Kaiden, but Kaiden is a top the charts bad boy who tops all others. Yet, you feel sorry for him. I finished the book late and didn't want to get up and check the net to see if there was a book 2 coming. Whoo! There is. *Spoiler* Because...you feel so sorry for the demon who fell in love and feels he can't have what he wants. The drugs and alcohol bother me greatly. Kinda spoilery, but not really....

I more than liked it, but it's not quite at the 3.5 mark. Definitely a solid three star read though. Sweet Evil was a little slow for the first half, but not in a bad way. I just felt like not a lot was happening to get me truly invested. It all felt like set up. The plot does pick up in the second half, but it was the ending that makes me want to read the next book.

This is probably the most original take on Angel/Demon mythology in YA to date. And it worked!
The plot doesnt make itself fully known until nearly the end, when Anna recieves a gift of something that is never really explained but you know will be important later in the series. The only reason why it has 4 stars instead of 5 is because it had a pretty weak ending, but honestly it was still entertaining with angels and demons, steamy romance scenes and I think we are working our way towards some This is probably the most original take on Angel/Demon mythology in YA to date. This book can be broken down into 3 distinct phases.

Phase One: The beginning of the book is all about making the characters known to the reader; personality traits, weaknesses, past events etc. As well as a whole lotta relationship and world building. Enter Kaiden. Whose sole mission it seems is to corrupt our innocent little Anna. He is wicked sexy, got a whole lotta atitude and knows he's good looking...and he has what makes every main male character in YA lit so appealing, a softer, loving side under that tough exterior which slowly reveals itself to Anna as they ahem get to know each other. There is a fair bit of sexual content particularly in the first phase of this book, as well as some drug use, so this ones for the older kiddies.

Phase Two: Without giving too much away...a change in relationship status'. And a little bit of an info dump. But we meet some awesome new characters that help move the plot along and make some extra fun. There are some really sweet moments between Anna and her father and Patti, her adoptive mother. Also a little bit of silliness where her father makes her drink so that she can know her limits... Im still undecided if that was really necessary. But whatever.

Pahes Three: The ball really gets rolling. The warrior Angels appear! And then it kinda ends. To be honest the ending was a bit weak. After all that plot development and hints at something big stirring we are left with some more relationship drama which sets up the next book in the series.

Things I liked: The world building is right up there with some of the best books I have read. Questions are answered (except for the ones at the end). The characters are not 2D cut outs; they have personalities. The general feel of the world within this book is dark and despairing. Seriously if you are looking for something darker then this is your book. It plays with some base human emotions and actions that weave themselves into the fabric of what the demon world is supposed to be doing, i.e. there is some sort of purpose to why the demons are the way they are, not just some lame excuse because they want to.

Its romantic without being too heavily corny. And its sexy. LOTS of steamy moments. And Anna! Bravo for stickin to the man! She definately tells Kaiden when to get stuffed. Although she does need a little work on how to keep a grudge, but hey..live and learn.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and definately reccomend, (even though it lost a whole star for the ending). ...more
