Brittney Ellis is the golden girl of Fairfeld High. She’s a cheerleader, has the perfect boyfriend, and she’s rich. Sounds perfect right? Wrong, Brittney’s life isn’t as perfect as it seems and it’s just a façade to please her parents. Alex Fuentes comes from the wrong side of tracks… literally… of Fairfeld. Alex is in the Latino Blood, but he’s in it to protect family. Alex and Brittney can’t stand each other and it sucks that they are chemistry partners for the entire school year. Alex makes a bet with his friends that he can get in Brittney’s pants before Thanksgiving.
I know that this book sounds cheesy and downright stupid; I mean we’ve heard it before so it’ll probably be a waste of time. Wrong. You’re a fool if you don’t at least try to read this book, if you tried and didn’t like it props for trying. I had wanted to read this book since I stumbled upon it on Amazon. All the girls started reading the book and IMO a girl who hates reading should not be reading a book before me. So it was off to the bookstore for me and I went through hell for this book. I went to three different stores before I finally got this book, that’s how popular it was in my town. This was what I looked after I got this book.
I sped through this book in two days because I kept putting off finishing it because I didn’t want it to end, but at the same time it was so hard for me to put down.

The main female character is Brittney. Brittney seems like a total Barbie and from the description at the back of the book I was sure I would hate her, but I liked Brittney. Just in the first chapter I felt bad for her and wanted her to stop living a lie and when she ran into Alex in the parking lot, I knew this book would be a winner.

The main male character is Alex. I love Alex, it’s that simple. From the minute I read his POV to the end of the book, even through all his jerkiness, I still loved him. Aside from the times that I couldn’t understand what he was saying because I don’t speak Spanish (but I’m going to in high school because Alex influenced me) and he’s jerkiness, which is plausible because he’s a teenager, I could look past his flaws and I thought he was a fleshed out character. He was loyal and protective when it came to his family and that’s a huge plus.

That’s how Alex makes me feel.

The Villain- The Latino Blood as a unit was the villain, but the real villain was Hector, the leader of the Blood and pretty much the cause of everyone’s problems. Let’s face it I don’t like Hector for what he did to Alex and Paco and everyone else.

This book was absolutely amazing and I don’t want to stop gushing about it. The characters made me feel emotions, held my interest, made me cry, made me laugh, and I love when a book does that. The ending was sad and I cried. I know a lot of people didn’t like the epilogue, but you know what I loved it. The epilogue wasn’t supposed to be serious, it’s light and fluffy because this a YA novel and so what if the ending is completely unrealistic. I thought the epilogue was cute and I loved it. Please give this book a shot if you haven’t.
