I'm gonna say it now: I'm disappointed by how much Reyn was not so much involved with Nastasya. Yeah I guess it's going to add dept to your character is you push away the Viking god that wants you, but you're just going to mess things up for yourself. The giving up and running away was stupid, but I understand why she did it. As a sequel, Darkness Falls is definitely a much stronger book than Immortal Beloved. For one, it delves even deeper into Nastasya and her psyche, particularly her fears of working her magic. At River's, she begins to learn how to use magic without taking energy from others around her, but Nasty remains afraid that the darkness in her bloodline will curse both her and those she gets close to.
