It's been over 20 years since I last read this book and I loved it just as much now as the first time around. There are so many ideas touched on on this book that you can read it one hundred times and get something different out of it each time in my view. The experience of being brainwashed, political hierarchy and it's reasoning, the meaning of reality, how language relates to individual thoughts, the breaking point of love, the value of privacy, collective views of beauty, systematic control, ...more

Frightening.

Orwell paints a strikingly real-life picture of a totalitarian regime. And it is ghastly.
