What Members Thought

I see that this book has a lot of good reviews, and I can understand that if I only take into account the way in which the protagonists point of view was depicted, but the writing itself was not good. The conversations and inner monologue were awkward and the language they spoke in wasn't representative of how a twenty-something would actually speak. Most of the relationships weren't believable. I might be slightly biased because I simply didn't enjoy this genre either, but I can't say I would r

Gets 3 stars only for the sexy fun times and the ridiculous writing. Entertained all the way through. Did I hate her whining and indecisiveness? Yes. Did I hate his crazy controlling weirdness? Yes. Did I hate the repetitiveness (seriously, this story could have been 200 pages shorter)? Of course. Will I continue to read these and finish the series? Duh. But, only because I've realized this has what Twilight was missing: really crazy sex scenes!

I could write a long rant about how the lack of editing and poor writing made reading this feel laborious. I could also go on about how Christian and Ana's relationship is so screwed up and raises lots of red flags and is not even close to a sane, consesual, and safe BDSM relationship. But I think you get how three, four chapters in I was so annoyed, and filled with such anger, that I just couldn't take it anymore. Pop culture be damned. I bought this book for my Kindle because of all the hype. I wanted to see what everyone was going on about.
Well, they were going on about porn. Yikes. I could immediately see the Twilight influence. The names are different but the descriptions and personalities are mostly that of Edward and Bella (but Edward has golden eyes and would NEVER spank Bella). I'm not a fan of Twilight but at least it doesn't rip off another work.

I was disappointed by the overwhelming comparison to the Twilight Saga. I know it was fan fiction, to begin with but I felt like the author could have made some changes to the story without compromising the theme.
There were some really juicy parts, the editing left something to be desired and I am perplexed by so much Twilight but it was a good read.

Just too boring - I couldn't make myself read anymore. Didn't even make it to any sexy parts (even though almost 100 pages in), so can't comment on that. ...more

Awesome. Wickedly delicious. Couldn't believe the end, but thank goodness for book #2.
