I'll write a full review of this in the near future. In the meantime I will just say that this reminded me as a "return to King" that I fell in love with when reading The Stand and It. That being said, both of those books suffered from what I thought were unsatisfying endings, and based on some input from others I expected to love most of this but not all. As it turns out I was very pleased with the ending. So even better than I had expected.

The great thing about Under the Dome, is that the dome doesn't even matter, and, actually, it's obligatory explanation is needless to say disappointing. Thankfully, we can ignore that, because what really matters are the people of Chester's Mill, and boy are there some characters in this small Maine town.

Great story. As others have said, King doesn't always end his stories well. It's often as if he's mentally working on the next one while he's knocking off the last 100 pages of the one he's working. Under the Dome, however, had a better ending.
This book piqued my interest as it's not horror and it's kind of local politics with a dose of human nature. And the story was lots of fun with interesting characters.

Good characters, but too similar to The Stand for me. If you're looking for a large doorstop of a King book with multitudes of characters, read The Stand instead. Great villain though.
