I stopped reading this because the author is so pompous and annoying.
He did what I wanted him to. I was looking for a way to crawl out of my depression at not being able to be a futurist anymore. I can no longer imagine where we might be in 10 years. Even tomorrow would be pushing it--hence the Black Swan. Even though I had everything I needed within a few pages, I kept on. Odd because I knew the rest of the book would be devoted to shoring up his Black Swan pronouncements. Early on he got off some funny lines--usually at the expense of academia or Wall Street--b

Even, or especially, experts make poor predictions about the future state of complex systems. Taleb puts so much into this book, but it would have been better with a little less provocation for the sake of provocation.
Easily the most thought-provoking book I have ever read. Just as good the second time.
