What Members Thought

This charming book is the story of a young man who is named after his father but really wants his own name. I could relate to this to an extent since I had a brother named after our father and my son is named after our husband, but we did find a nickname to give him that helps give him his own identity.
Beautifully drawn by an Yuyi Morales who has already won the Caldecott Medal.

I had conflicting feelings as I read this and so I went to Debbie Reese's American Indians in Children's Literature website and her review is here: https://americanindiansinchildrenslit...
I feel this is a book to be read with caveats. Debbie Reese points out the poetry and the pitfalls and before reading this book with others I'd highly recommend checking out what she has to say.
