Is it just me or can you feel the anger steaming off of the pages in this book. Charlotte, you are one pissed off little minx, and it is wonderful. I am amazed and delighted with her need...no, demand to be loved just as she is, not as she "should" be. Outside of convention, outside of expectations...but very much inside her own convictions. Jane is wonderful.

I remember this being by far my favorite of the books I was assigned to read in my 19th Century English Literature class in college. I decided to read it again, and loved it even more this time around! A great love story, and an unforgettable portrait of a forthright but generous young woman, who will not compromise her principles no matter how painful it is to stand by them.
