This was a very special and powerful book, that mainly introduced two new major characters, brave Scarlet and ferocious Wolf. While their relationship between them was angsty, the exceptional writing style made me root for them almost immediately, despite the fact that brooding characters like Wolf are not usually my type of romantic interest.

I must say I say so glad my friend Sara Ella pushed me to continue this series because if she didn't I would not have found my love in this second book. When I read Cinder I had such a hate relationship with the book. I think my biggest reason was because it was in the middle of being overly hyped and I guess I just got sick of hearing about the book! So when Sara said I MUST continue I couldn't help but pick up Scarlet.

I was blown away.

So when Sara said I MUST continue I couldn't help but pick up Scarlet.

I was blown away.

There was not one part of this book that I hated. I loved the fact that there was a constant change in POV - between Cinder, Scarlet, and Captian Thorne. Who by the way is one of the best characters throughout the series.

At first I was thinking that the main character was going to be Cinder but I was wrong Scarlet...well followed Scarlet, a young girl who is in search of her missing grandmother. A women who disappeared without a trace leaving behind her farm and her bloody identification chip. I think that Scarlet so far has been my favorite female character. She is definitely determined and has this steel personality. Her main concern is her grandmother - her only family. I think the biggest thing I noticed was that unlike many characters Scarlet doesn't give her trust freely and when she trusts someone - she gives it fully.

So enter in sexy, broody, dark, mysterious Wolf - A street fighter with a dangerous and slightly terrifying past. Who also happens to eat everything and beat up anyone in sight. The way these two meet, a bar fight ironically. I definitely could see the attraction these two had for each other in the very beginning. At first it was that weary relationship or in Scarlet's case its the attack first ask questions later type of relationship.

The two definitely make a pair especially when it comes down to looking for Scarlet's grandma and taking care of her estranged father who appears out of no where after a few weeks. Scarlet is about to enter a world of secrets, deceptions, and lies.

In the mean time you have Cinder who is trying to escape prison with the help of "captian" Thorne. Who, like I said before, is my bae. He is simply a funny guy who literally needs a reality check...or a train ride straight to the loonie bin. In this second installment of the Lunar Chronicles I have found my love for Cinder. Since I hated Cinder in the first book I thought I was never going to like her, love her, or even connect to her. But after picking up Scarlet, I am definitely intrigued to see where her journey is going to take her and how it's going to connect to Scarlet and a few other characters!

I am also starting to see the fairy tales throughout these books even more so then the first book cinder. So far I have understanding that Cinder=Cinderella and that Scarlet=Little Red Riding Hood. I absolutely loved picking out the fairy tale aspects of these stories and seeing the plot progression along with how the characters are all connected to each other. One of the biggest things I loved was the uncovering of Cinders past and where she came from along with who she is - yah that was some of the top things I loved about this book!

I would definitely suggest picking this book up, especially since Winter will be coming out in November!! I am super siked.

Well, this was a book. I mean, I'm interested enough in the world to have picked this up even after not loving book one, and I think I'm still interested enough for the next book as well. But nothing about this was really special. I like Cinder way more than Scarlet as a character. (view spoiler) ...more

At first, I wasn't too fond of the Scarlet story line but it totally grew on me and loved this one even more than the first. The captain is my favorite character and his relationship with Cinder is the best!! I need to read the third on right now!! ...more

A retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood story intertwined with the Cinderella story told in the first book, Cinder.

Very clever combination of the two fairy tales with this new, dystopian universe where the people of the moon and those of earth are in conflict. I really enjoyed this book immensely and will recommend to students.
