Listened to the audio. I rolled my eyes a couple of times at the ridiculous tropes this book fell prey to. Entertaining, but not something I would read again.
The feel of the whole plot to the story seemed like something I read before. Maybe because it was more of a first book in a series introducing characters. Even though the story was familiar in it outline there are different fantasy things happening throughout the book. It did end in such a way that I am curious to know what will happen in it second installment.

I like this book. I will admit I saw the movie first and am very pleased that the book ending makes a heckuva lot more sense. It starts slow but ends big. Jacobs adventure is just starting and I'll read the next book to see where he goes.... and find out if he ever chooses to return home. He has good reason not to after all, but still... Good read!
