What Members Thought

I heard the hype about this book, and had become acquainted with John Green's vlogs with his brother, Hank, on YouTube, as well as his Crash Course series on YouTube, so I had to read it. This was my first John Green book, and now I am committed to reading all of his books. While the subject matter is somber, the way that Green writes the characters' approach to life, and their relationships, is truly uplifting. I love this book.

Hazel is living with cancer, waiting for the moment she will eventually die. There is no hope of ridding herself of it. She doesn’t have any friends and spends most of her time reading or in front of the TV, until she meets Augustus one day at Support Group.

Amazing book. You might want to have some tissues ready. It's about kids with cancer, but it is wonderful.

This book had moments of pure hilarity and complete devastation. One of the better, more poignant young adult reads out there. It felt like I was reading from a sophisticated, world-weary teenage girl's diary, but is strangely written by a 30is man. Definitely recommended reading.
