This book is going into the "did not finish" pile. The pace is incredibly slow, the story is incredibly dull, and I have much better books in my list to read than this waste of time. If you want an idea of how dull this novel is, I was actually falling asleep at work while reading it. At one point, I put it down altogether and took a cat nap because that was so much better than reading another page. I am so glad I only borrowed this from the library.

On page 256 and I want to finish this book and care about these characters, but I'm finding I don't much. Too much poetry and symbolism? Am I that shallow? Maybe, but I confess I want more at this point. Will I finish? Probably, I rarely put down a book without finishing it, even the ones I feel blah about.
