I am so late to jump on the Throne of Glass bandwagon. I am seriously kicking myself for not reading this sooner! I blame my love for serial series binge reading. At any rate, I finally decided it was time to sit down and see what all the fuss is about. I was gratifyingly astonished. This is a story that grips you right from the start.

I had heard so much about this series that I decided I wanted to try it. I've had such good luck with YA fantasy lately. Off to the library!
The book starts out with Celaena braving unspeakable cruelty and is given a chance to serve as the king's champion in exchange for freedom after 4 years. While this starts out with lots of promise, I have to say that it flagged for me in the middle. I liked all the characters involved (except those you weren't supposed to like). Sadly disappointed with this one. I was hoping for an exciting read with a badass female assassin, interesting backstory, magic, mystery, action, romance....
Instead what I got was a sorry excuse for an assassin and an infuriating love triangle, complete with lackluster world building and a poorly executed plot.
You want to read a good novel with an assassin protagonist, go check out The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks. You won't catch HIS assassin by surprise when he's sleeping, or have him come a ...more

I'm fairly certain I loved this book even more the second time around! Not to mention, my heart is rebreaking thinking about what the next books hold for these characters.

This book was so good! I don't usually like these kind of books, but surprisingly I loved it!
So basically this book was about Celaena, an assassin who is rescued from a death camp so she could compete in a competition to become the king's assassin, and win her freedom. She begins to form relationships with both Prince Dorian, and the head of the guards, Chaol.
I really admired Celaena. She is so strong, funny, and is just a really interesting character to read about.
Then there's Chaol... *swoon* ...more
