This was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I will say that it is exactly as described- a cross between Mulan and Project Runway. At least for the first part of the book. I think my issues started on the second half of the book, where it became more of a magical adventure/quest and less about political intrigue. I felt like this book was trying to do too many things. This book is so much fun! I loved it! I agree with other reviewers that this book felt like two separate stories, but that didn't bother me. I enjoyed both parts in different ways. With about 75 pages left, I made sure to grab the second book to have ready. :) ...more
