A great concept that (mostly) delivers. Although there were some formatting issues, it was still easy enough to read. Overall, I think the idea would've been much better as a New Adult instead of Young Adult, and it seemed a weird choice not to age up the protagonists/do more with the romantic storyline. While the writing was very topical, given the memes and other references, I'm not sure how this book will hold up after a few years.

I ate this book up like it was a grilled cheese. The writing was irreverent and snarky, making me laugh out loud more than once, but the characters were still soft, naive, and likable while still being witty. I tried to summarize this book out loud to someone and realized there are a LOT of elements happening all at once--the Twitter war, the secret app convo, the baking blog, on top of the burgeoning young love and family growing pains--and while they might have been a bit unnecessary, th ...more

I received a free copy of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was excited to finally get a hold of this book, but everything fell flat for me. I whizzed through this book in a few hours and I felt nothing. Sometimes I couldn't even differentiate Pepper and Jack's point-of-views when I wasn't paying attention to the chapter headers - their voices were so similar. Also, the ebook formatting (on my phone, at least) is a nightmare when it comes to the tweets and the chat messages. The premise was interesting, but this is not a book I would come back to.
