Shelves: physical-read, series-on-hold

Started this with high expectations that weren't really met. Not that this is not a well-written, plot-driven book with interesting characters. It very much is.

It just wasn't my cup of tea, and YA fantasy in general has been giving me this feeling lately. So, it's probably a matter of not enjoying the genre so much anymore, than not really liking this book in particular. ...more

Kind of caught between giving this 3 and 4 stars. I enjoyed the book more toward the end, but the beginning was definitely a rough start. Still excited to continue the series though since I have a feeling the next book will be better!

52 Book Challenge: Read a book that is a sub-genre of a favorite - witches sub-genre of Fantasy? I'm going to count it.

Slow to start, I had a hard time getting into it, but once I did, I loved it. Will be reading the sequel next. Safi is a little annoying but I like Isuelt quite a bit. The portrayal of the friendships is top notch. ...more
