I am so surprised by how amazing I found this book. I tried to give it 4 stars but the little girl in me had to give it a 5 star review. My sister and I were 8 and 5 years old and Lynda Carter was Wonder Woman and it came on TV every week and we were glued to the TV. Naturally after we watched the show we thought we were Wonder Woman. I would dream of my super powers and my sister just wanted the costume but she wanted a cape LOL (later on, a few seasons later I think she had a cape that didn't I am so surprised by how amazing I found this book. I tried to give it 4 stars but the little girl in me had to give it a 5 star review. This book was everything I needed a book about Wonder Woman (or Diana) She was an Amazon Warrior Princess and she lived on an island that didn't allow mortals or men on their island. If they were found bringing a mortal or a man on the island they would be exiled off the island. The island is also shielded from every being found. You have to have the sacred Heartstone to get out or back to the island of Themyscira. So when Diana saw an explosion of a ship in the ocean just off the coast of her island and heard a soft voice of this girl she had to do the right thing and save this outsider that Diana knew wasn't allowed on this island. I won't spoil how this worked and how my 8 year old fangirling heart from 1972 reacted to how Leigh Bardugo twisted and wrote an ending that I loved so much (maybe I loved it so much because it's just about 4 am and I've only slept 2 hours in 24 hours. I still hope after I've had some decent sleep I still love it so SO much)

This book had action, it had tall amazon women, it had romance (even though (view spoiler) is a backstabbing weasel that should stay under the rock he crawled out from under HA HA HA. This book had friendship and betrayal. It also had laughs and arguments provoked by a strangeness in Alia. It had Goddesses the good and evil. It had everything it I felt it was just so fantastic. It was everything I could ask for!!!

I will recommend this to everyone. I just can't believe it took me this long to read it. I'm so mad at myself for not wanting to read it. I'm really happy I finally did and that for me I was not disappointed at all ...more

It was more 4.5 than 4. Characters are so well written, so lovable and the plot twist I did not see coming at all. Fast-paced and action packed through the entire book. Descriptive, a common atteibute to Leigh Bardugo's books, you picture the scenes and people as if you are watching a movie. Can't wait to read Cat Woman (DC Icons 3).
