This world is so mesmerizing. This is one of those books that you truly step into when you start reading. Just as the blurb says, you have to beware of getting swept too far away.

Garber really keeps her readers on their feet with this book. I kid you not, I was completely engrossed in this story. Garber's writing style is well suited to this kind of fast-paced and exciting story. I really love how easily I gravitated toward her words. The plot of this book is insane. You never know who to trust, This world is so mesmerizing. This is one of those books that you truly step into when you start reading. Garber's writing style is well suited to this kind of fast-paced and exciting story. I really love how easily I gravitated toward her words. The plot of this book is insane. You never know who to trust, you never know what is right around the corner, and you never know what the outcome of the last thing will be. It is all so whimsical and dangerous and fulfilling. The world-building for this series is phenomenal. So atmospheric and vivid.

In the second book of this series, the author chose to tell the story from Tella's point of view. I admit, at first, I did not care for her narrative. She had self-centered moments that didn't sit well with me. She was callous to her sister at times and don't get me started on her recklessness. With all that said, even though I didn't like her character I did like the character's journey. Tella was entertaining and the story flowed well from her perspective. I did enjoy that. Dante's character got more page time in this book. He is a very mysterious character and one that I enjoyed unraveling. We also see Julian and Scarlett, both of them acting as mysterious as you can imagine with Caraval going on. Jacks is a new character that was quite intriguing.

I really liked the love story between Tella and Dante for the most part. I wasn't as invested in it as I would have liked to be though. They certainly had some great interactions in the story that made me want more. They have some definite chemistry and I am eager to see where their story takes them. As far as Scarlett and Julian, they had a little trouble in paradise when certain things come to light but were more agreeable at the end of the book. I am not sure where their relationship is heading but at least they aren't on rocky waves anymore. I have faith in them.

Overall, I was so delighted with this stunning sequel. I truly loved the continuation of this story. The Caraval series definitely has a magical component to it that makes the story come alive in your heart. The experience of reading these books is as priceless as a ticket to Caraval. I can't wait to read the Finale!

I might have enjoyed this one more than the first. I felt like I had no idea what was happening in the first one. This one was easier to follow and some things were a little predictable. This one went into the characters so much more which I liked. But the only thing that I thought was strange was that Tella and Scarlet fought so hard to be together in the last book and this one they hardly saw each other, a little weird. I’ll definitely read the next one and excited to see where it goes.

Extreme flowery writing - colors that look like smells and other intangibles, etc. but if you don't mind that, this one is a little better than the last. I liked Tella's point of view more than Scarlet's for some reason. More of a 4.5 rounded up, but fun nevertheless. Loved the addition of the fates for this one and the little bit of mystery. Stopped on a cliff-hanger so what I thought would be a duology might be a trilogy? ...more

I absolutely, positively, without a doubt, LOVE this series! It is well written, full of twists and turns. I love how my suspicions are usually incorrect. :) Also, the audio version is delightful! Thank you, Stephanie Garber, for a FANTASTIC read! I cannot wait for the third installment!
