Very interesting re-imagining of the Vlad Dracul legend/myth. I hope this will be more than a standalone. I imagine it will be part of a series with Lada as the female version of Count Dracula, albeit not a vampire. The triangle between Lada and her brother Radu and Mehmed II is complicated although I felt it was a bit sentimental at times. Lada is the star here. You will either completely hate her, or love her. I liked her strength and fire and desire to be a ruler over herself.

This is the story of Vlad the Impaler but changed to a female named Lada. Lada is fierce and deadly. Some would even forget she's female at all. This was a good story and I enjoyed it for the most part. I took off one star because the middle got a little slow for me. Other than that this was really good and I can't wait to read the second one in this series. ...more
