I honestly can’t form an opinion of this book. If it hadn’t been for the #owbookclub this would have ended up in the DNF pile. I have a feeling that timing wasn’t right for me to read it. I should have loved it in all its weird and vibrant glory, but I struggled. I have to admit I skimmed sooooo much. It may have been too slow and deep of a book to read in the middle of our move.

The last chapters saved this from being a 2 star review and it has peaked my interest for the sequel and I think Muse ...more

I'm right on the edge of four and five stars. This book was fantastic. I loved Laini Taylor from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy, and I was not let down with this either. She does monsters so well. Or monster-like characters. I finished the book and my first thought was HOW DID IT END LIKE THIS?? And my second thought was, how in the hell did she come up with the idea for this book? Because it is unlike anything I have ever read. I don't know how to say anything without spoiling stuff, so I'm right on the edge of four and five stars. This book was fantastic. Wow. Strange and Sarai. How long do I have to wait for the sequel? While I saw what was going to happen much earlier than the characters did, I still was tearing up so much!! Definitely a must read for any fantasy readers out there. So brutal and yet lovely and strange all at the same time.
