4.75⭐️ ~ I will try to give a spoiler-free summary of my feels. I'm shocked that I could love this story so much considering how much I hated HER. Ugh!!! She was infuriating...selfish, self-centered, egotistical, and mean. The redeeming factors of this book was the story itself. I loved the plot and the character interactions. It was so much fun getting to know more about the Selected. I'm loving them. Of course, all my love for America and Maxon! I'm so glad the story isn't over!

I'm going to give Kiera Cass the benefit of the doubt on this one. I think she has set up the novel so that we dislike Eadlyn. Unfortunately she hit it a bit hard and Eadlyn comes off as not only unlikable but despicable! She's arrogant, rude, condescending, entitled and unpleasant and that's when she isn't even trying. Her reaction to the boys is awful and even the ones who aren't abusive or weird or have ulterior motives come off in a bad light. I mean they are all stereotypes - poor boy, rich

Gah, guilty pleasures. I actually kinda loved this book. I know, right? I even kinda liked it better than America's story....? Maybe it's because the boys are the ones vying for a girl? Or I just appreciate Eadlyn's (ouf) sheer princess-ness? There was less wham bam rebels and more let's make pastries, so that's already winning. Oh! And this book trumps the original love triangle with like a....love hexagon? I don't even know, I lost count. I mean, I feel like I know where this is going, because

I've been struggling with my rating on this one. On one hand, this book stole my weekend--I needed to know what was going to happen next! However, there seemed like a lot less action than any of the previous books, and Eadlyn was super whiny and annoying. I assume that her character was intentionally written this way either to make a good contrast with America (Eadlyn's mother, who is beloved by all) or to set up some major development in character growth. It's too far, though, when the plot is

Eadlyn is a princess of contradictions. She wants to be seen as capable and strong, but also resents her responsibility of being groomed for queen. One thing she’s certain she does not want: a husband. Eadlyn has trouble letting in other people. She is so used to putting up her guard that she has few friends outside her family, and has never been in a real romantic relationship. When the Selection begins, she’s skeptical at best. She’s a difficult character to like. Disconnected with her people,
