What Members Thought
What a book! Here we see the game get deadlier and the stakes get higher. This was excellent on every level! It propelled the plot forward very nicely and introduced some great new characters, Rowan, yum, and Maas continued to explore her other characters and develope them further and explore the crazy cool and gorgeous universe she created. I loved this book and I was so glad to have the next one waiting for me to read after that jaw dropping ending. I cannot recommend this highly enough!
Let me just say that I did not like all the varying storylines. I love certain characters, like Chaol and Celaena and do not like to have so much time away from them. I hated all the time dedicated to the witch clans. I just couldn't care about them. I know it will be important for the future, but it sure was a lot of new character development at the expense of the oldies. I didn't get nearly enough Chaol in this book, but I think that may be rectified in the next book. I loved the ending of thi

I was mixed on this one. I enjoyed Aelin and Rowan's dynamic as well as Aedion and Chaol's, but felt like I was mostly skimming Manon's chapters (though everyone says she ends up becoming a favorite) and a few other scenes dragged a bit for me. But SJM is the queen of drawing you into the next book because those last few chapters...bam! All in all, a 3.5* read for me.
