Come libro mi ha lasciato un po' perplessa, nel senso che non so dire se il modo particolare scelto per narrare questa storia mi ha colpito in modo positivo o negativo. La storia: lo scrittore. ebreo americano la cui famiglia si è spostata negli USA dopo la II guerra mondiale, s'imbarca in un viaggio nel passato, torna in Ucraina per cercare la donna che aveva salvato la vita di suo nonno dai nazisti. Triste e divertente,amaro e pieno di affetto, fantasioso e orribilmente realistico.Di "Ogni cosa è illuminata" ho percepito in primis le forti contraddizioni, caratteristiche anche del contesto storico in cui è inserito. Anche la narrazione è molto varia e la scelta di saltare tra periodi storici e stili differenti contribuisce a strapazzare il lettore tra atmosfera fiabesca e bruta realtà.
