This novel captured me the first time I read it, and on re-read I found it just as mesmerizing. The story is intricate and strange, almost inexplicable at times, but in the end everything makes sense; the cast of characters is fantastic and the relationships between them heartwarming; and the setting is mysterious and evocative. Above all, my favourite thing about this novel is that it is a fantastic mix of different genres: mystery, historical fiction, tragic love story... everything blends tog ...more

Leggere questo libro è come un grande viaggio, completamente immersi nella Barcellona della prima metà dello scorso secolo, al fianco di personaggi e situazioni incredibili.

Dalla prima all'ultima pagina Zafòn non perde un solo colpo, riuscendo a mettere in piedi una storia a tratti complessa e ingarbugliata, ma districandosi in maniera egregia per un racconto all'insegna dei sentimenti più nobili.
