I read it in Italian ages ago and I decided to read it again in English now that the new movie is coming up.
Unfortunately the face of Leo di Caprio playing an eccentric and wealthy american kept popping into my mind while reading, and that reminded me of his role as Howard Hughes, and that reminded me of Mr Burns' tribute to Howard Hughes in the Simpsons. WTF, brain?
Having said that, I like the style of the writing more than the plot. The love story didn't really engaged me but I was drove into ...more

Gatsby ha 17 anni, li ha nel giorno in cui nasce, e anche nel giorno in cui muore, perché Gatsby è l'americano medio, convinto che si possa essere ciò che si dice di essere.
Purtroppo è una presunzione che porta solo guai, fino alla morte, e a Gatsby in questo senso va anche bene, perché di solito gente come lui viene disconosciuta e dimenticata da tutti, mentre al protagonista rimarrà almeno un amico postumo disposto a narrare la sua storia.
