*spoiler alert for those who haven’t read The Hourglass series beforehand*

Just wondering, but was I the only one who didn’t realize Timepiece was in Kaleb’s POV? Well, first off, that was a major surprise for me because I had been expecting Emerson again. Although I did miss her voice, I still enjoyed getting a male POV, especially since it was Kaleb.

Just wondering, but was I the only one who didn’t realize Timepiece was in Kaleb’s POV? Well, first off, that was a major surprise for me because I had been expecting Emerson again. Although I did miss her voice, I still enjoyed getting a male POV, especially since it was Kaleb.

Kaleb was our narrator throughout Timepiece, which really allowed me to realize how broken he actually was from “losing” his father and mother. On the surface he acts like a player and comes off as a self-centered jerk. In reality, Kaleb is very caring and loving; he just hides it very well. For example, Lily says, “You’re always taking care of people. You… I don’t know… observe, and then you give others what they need, by instinct” (248). Also, don’t forget that Kaleb is pretty hilarious and has a hugely sarcastic mouth; you won’t be missing that!

Remember Emerson’s best friend, Lily? Well, surprise!! She takes on a bigger role in Timepiece. A few words to describe Lily: blunt, feisty, stubborn. Yep, that about sums it up! You are definitely going to get a kick out of her throughout Timepiece, but that’s about all I’m going to reveal.

Emerson and Michael are not as big of characters, but their adorable romance is still available. Except, the scenes were a bit bittersweet since they were from Kaleb’s POV…

I felt like the ending was very rushed, but that could have just been because it was jam-packed with so much! No joke! It was like an explosion of new information, twists, secrets, and questions! Plus, the MAJOR CLIFFHANGER! Darn! Where is the next book??!?? GIVE ME!

Overall, I really enjoyed that Timepiece was from Kaleb’s POV because we got to get a better feel of all the characters since he has the unique ability of seeing/feeling others’ emotions. Timepiece was nicely paced with lots of intense & romantic moments and plenty of suspense & action!

I really enjoyed this book. Some fans of Hourglass may be disappointed that it has a different narrative feel, and that Em and Michael are not prominently featured, but I think that switching narrators was a bold move that gave this trilogy a sense of the unexpected. I'm curious to see what Myra McIntyre has up her sleeve for the next book, Infinityglass. Could Ava be our next narrator? I'll have to wait to find out. I love an author who keeps me guessing!
