I had this on my tbr list for years. It was collecting dust on my bookshelf. This is a wonderful book. It has an amazing story with great characters. It’s timeless.

It's been about a year and a half since I read The Help. It was a book I kept hearing about and the movie was coming out soon so I wanted to see what the hoopla was about and read the book before renting the movie. I googled the book to see what the people were saying online and that's how I discovered Goodreads and the reviews (etc)...

This novel is an excellent commentary on racism and feminism. It challenges the way humans form relationships, and the rules that we make up and shove between certain social classes. The most infuriating thing about this book is that the same awful truths Stockett wrote about, the same prejudice, pride, and "hush-hush" attitudes, still thrive today. I found myself feeling more frustrated the more limited and ridiculed Skeeter, Aibileen, and Minny became. This novel is important. Everyone should ...more
