What Members Thought
A wondrous tale of bitterly dysfunctional family life and over the top love. It is, in turns, resoundingly poetic, brutally violent and exceedingly beautiful. So glad I finally read this.
I am always amazed at books deemed classics. This one followed a bunch of selfish, miserable people who took joy in making everyone around them miserable as well. I found the need to slap most of the characters during their hysterical and just plain crazy rants. I think this is even less of a love story than Romeo and Juliet, instead it a story of greed and obsession.
I simply couldn't get into this book. I know it's supposed to be a great bit of literature, but I didn't like it. The plot dragged, the description was stiff, and the characters all seemed the same; I didn't particularly like any of them.
