[close] If not for my Kindle I would have thrown this book across the room. I also would not have finished it were any of my holds available from the library. Maybe something is lost in the translation, but this book shows why the traditional writing advice of "show don't tell" is really useful. We are told over and over of Monsieur Perdu's love for his lost Manon, but never shown it. I love the premise of the book: Perdu, the bookstore owner can recommend the perfect book for each person, based on his or her life, but this is barely explored, instead we get a sappy unbelievable romance.
