I finally got to read this book and I am so glad I did. I had wanted to read it after I had seen an interview with the author on the show Sunday Morning shortly after the pandemic had caused a nation wide lockdown. This is a book of relationships, in particular mother/daughter, but also one of major ethical questions about family (birth family, adopted family) biology and race. I found the plot absorbing, it takes place in a planned community in Ohio, where expectations and housing codes are both written and implied.
