Light-hearted "proper romance" set in Victorian England. It was pretty predictable, but it was a cute story. You get exactly what you expect.

Updated: *Just re-read for book club, and found it a little harder to read this time - Marianne’s complete cluelessness to Philip’s adoration is just too much! But still a fun read I enjoyed once again. Better writing for this genre than I’ve sometimes found.

This was a perfect summer read: fun, fast, and clean. There is this raging debate on Goodreads about whether this book is like Jane Austen, but seriously who writes like Jane Austen? Very few people. But this book does take place in the era of Jane Austen. So if you are looking for a light, romantic book, I highly recommend this one. I read it in 3 days!

Easy read, regency novel that you can't put down until you finish. This is Donaldson's first book and she did a good job. I'm interested in reading more of her stuff!

I love this book! I read it first back in 2019. It was my first Regency romance but definitely not my last. I'm now addicted to them and have a hard time reading anything else. This is a clean Regency romance...just the way I like it. :-)

This story was unoriginal, predictable and the character's slightly ridiculous....but somehow I still loved it. It's a quick, fun read.
