What Members Thought

Really well done historical fiction for middle graders. I think students will like this one about the Berlin Wall. It’s a part of history they don’t learn much about. It’s captivating.

Excellent book about life around the Berlin Wall in the 1960s. There are not many books out there that focus on the Berlin Wall. I don't even think I was even aware of how bad life was on the east side.

Excellent YA historical fiction book on the Berlin Wall and the heroic DDR women and women, girls and boys who risked their lives for freedom. Having traveled to East Germany years before the wall came down, this story reflects well the oppression of Soviet communism.

historical fiction - when the wall goes up between East and West Berlin, Gerta's family is separated. Abby did this for her book report this month.
