Cute story…predictable but fun. My 10 year old son loved it - we listened to it on a road trip. It stole some story elements from Homer. Maybe that's what made it predictable. A great refresher on Greek mythology and a great adaptation of a hero's adventure in our time.

I read this to my son, so I could say we read it before he saw the movie. I would probably give it 3.5 stars if I could. It draws children/young adults into it and makes them want to keep reading. I also like the underlying Greek mythology, so that when kids get to that subject in school they have some familiarity with it, even if it is from a fiction standpoint. The writing was not my favorite, but it definitely holds with it's target audience.
