So this is another example of the conundrum that creates this pollyanna-ish literature that irritates the heck out of me. On one hand, I don't like being stressed out by fiction so incredibly depressing stories where you learn to love characters that continually struggle and then finally die dramatically amidst an unfulfilled dream. I loved this book! It isn't really a sequel to Freckles, but it would be best to read Freckles before reading this one. You can download this book for free to your Kindle. I love it!

I loved this book! It is a story of a girl who has no family except a mother who doesn't care about her at all. She overcomes so many difficulties and becomes such an amazing woman! I love all of the descriptions of nature and the beauty that she finds there... Great classic!

It has been a while since I read this one, it was on of my Grandma's favorites. Just a great story--nice easy read! Something you could read to your kids.
