Another one I really wanted to love but didn't. It had all my favorite ingredients but I think somebody opened the oven door a few times while it was baking, because it fell a bit flat.

The only thing that is bad about this book is that The Cemetary of Forgotten Books doesn't actually exist. Beautifully written, wonderful story with great characters. I stayed up all night finishing it. Definitely checking out the author's other books.

Wonderfully twisty, dreamy mystery. As I read, I kept thinking back to the description of the book-within-the-book in the first few pages: "As it unfolded, the structure of the story began to remind me of one of those Russian dolls that contain innumerable ever-smaller dolls within. Step by step the narrative split into a thousand stories, as if it had entered a gallery of mirrors, its identity fragmented into endless reflections."

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I loved the humorous little touches and appreciated the character development and strong sense of place. But when I finished, I didn't do my happy sigh like I do when I complete a book I just loved.
