What a dizzying descent into the darkness of human heart! Oscar Wilde, I take my hat off for you. The vanity, the degradation of morals, the raw fear of inevitable... all come together in a splendid character that is Dorian Gray. I didn't think I'd be so swept by that ending, since the story is practically part of our culture, but the drama still managed to surprise me.

What a fascinating book this one was! Spooky in the way that Doctor Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde is, I am surprised that I had never been put into a position to read this one before. Very clever and humorous, at times, the commentary on the value of beauty and youth and what is really important is wonderful. Deep novel with a lot to think about as to what leads to a person's downfall...all of the people around Dorian Gray who helped lead him intentionally and unintentionally to his complete downward spi
