What a fascinating book this one was! Spooky in the way that Doctor Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde is, I am surprised that I had never been put into a position to read this one before. Very clever and humorous, at times, the commentary on the value of beauty and youth and what is really important is wonderful. Read this, as I read most Wilde, because he was my favorite in high school.
This was a lot more dense (although still short) and a lot more serious in nature. Yet it truly deserves a place in any canon--it's a beautiful, scary, and timeless idea. ...more
