This is just the kind of book I love! Women featured as major characters, domestic settings, historical period and comedy!

I genuinely enjoyed this book, as I expected to, after having also enjoyed other novels by Elizabeth Gaskell. However, for a short book, it took me a long time to read, because of its anecdotal nature. That's right, folks, there's virtually no plot here. Otherwise a 4 or 5 star read, I had to rate it lower because it just didn't keep my attention that well.
