Don't let the stars and the speed I finished it fool you, it was a difficult read. I've never been able to digest poetry easy, with a few exceptions I try to avoid it completely. There is nothing wrong with it, it's just not my cup of oolong.

I have great admiration for this wonderful epic poem and it's longevity. The flavor of viking life, it's structure, trials, and rituals is very rich.

Beowulf, perhaps the oldest written story in English is read here by Seamus Heaney, the translator of this recent version. On two discs, Heaney captivates you with the adventures of Beowulf as he battles Gredel, and subsequently his mother, to the death.
