A Christmas Carol er unødvendig svært skrevet, men budskabet er selvfølgeligt varmt. Selvom det ikke er Charles Dickens skyld, så har de mange fortolkninger af hans historie udvandet historien til sådan en grad at den blot føles irrelevant og efterlader derfor kun et indtryk af at være frustrerende skrevet.

I've always enjoyed Charles Dickens' classic Christmas tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, but am slightly embarassed to say that up until I began reading this book a few weeks ago, I had only seen it portrayed via film. And unfortunately, I didn't much enjoy Dickens' writing in 'A Christmas Carol.' I felt it to be wordy and sleep-inducing - if you know what I mean - and I was quite glad that it was a short story so I didn't have to spend much time and energy on it.
