What Members Thought

Believe it or not, I had to stop reading this last night. I just need a break from it for a while. (I made it to page 270, so I only have around 40 or so pages left.)
It's not that I don't like the book. I think I couldn't finish it for a few reasons:
1) Probably the main reason -- I've been very stressed lately due to deadlines at work and numerous other reasons, so I think my concentration level is very short right now.

I started this book in 1951 and bogged down. Recently I picked it up again as it was a read for my book club. Amazing. Orwell looked at his world and projected a dark future in which the state was all powerful. He who controls the present controls the past and he who controls the past controls the present. Sheer genius. Amazing. The fact that Orwell's method of writing transcends his own generation and can applied beyond the planned 1984 day is pure testament to the genius content of 1984!
